Shock-absorbent Egg CartonThe next generation of egg crates?
This is the prototype for an egg crate that acts like a paper spring that protects the eggs inside. The eggs in it can survive up to a two foot drop. And if it can do that it will definitely protect from most jostling in transit. It would cost a little more than what’s out there, but I believe that cost would be offset by fewer transit-damaged products.
The carton is made from only one piece of cardboard that’s coiled in on itself. It would only require one cut on a press and a simple gluing operation. It would also be entirely recyclable.
Note: This is a cutaway version; the final version has closed sides and is stackable.
